2016 CROZE Cabernet Sauvignon follows the Croze philosophy of balance and elegance. Here is a wine with its roots deep in the Rutherford dust, and its pedigree is long. These grapes are organically farmed in one of the most prestigious vineyards in the Rutherford AVA.
The grapes were harvested October 12, 2016 and following a slow fermentation the wine was racked to barrel using 1/3 new, 1/3 once filled, and 1/3 twice filled French Oak barrels. The wine was racked twice in 2017 and once in 2018.
The winemakers' emphasis on balance and elegance is showcased in this lovely, Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon. Its Bordeaux heritage is evident in the finesse and finish. While imminently drinkable now, it has the structure to be aged for as long as you can stand to wait.
The 2016 Croze Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford displays classic Rutherford notes with a dusty elegance and complexity. This wine is rich with a balance of red and dark fruit character along with all the earth aroma’s that make Rutherford such a special place for cabernet sauvignon. The aromas are reminiscent of an early morning stroll through a briary blackberry patch with hints of tobacco and plum. On the finish there are spice notes of licorice and anise with a subtle cigar box charm followed by cocoa powder tannins. This is approachable now, but will age gracefully for many years.
