2015 Croze Cabernet Sauvignon Port, Napa Valley
In this Port, the winemaker chose to preserve the fruit’s true, varietal character and present it fresh on the palate. Curated to be paired with sweet or savory desserts.
This Old World Style fortified fine wine showcases the best of both worlds, combining the elegance and structure of a Cabernet Sauvignon with the depth and complexity of a port-style wine.
The Croze Port balances the flavors of mature Cabernet Sauvignon fruit and French oak- aged brandy, achieving a satisfying medley of flavors. Rich, dense blackberry, earthy cocoa, and savory-sweet aromas delight the senses.

Vineyard Notes
The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes came from Tenbrink Vineyards in Suisun Valley, just across the Eastern Hills from Napa Valley. Here, the daylight hours are just a bit warmer, without the cooling marine influence of San Francisco Bay. Steve Tenbrink grew these luscious grapes especially for us. The 2006 growing season was warm and dry enough to allow the extended hang time necessary for concentrating the sugars in the grapes—perfect for making varietal Port.
The grapes were allowed to hang well past the normal picking date. This increased the complexity and density of the fruit flavors. The grapes were crushed and left on the skins for one week before inoculation with alcohol-tolerant yeast.
Production Notes
After a long, cool fermentation, Brandy was added to stop the fermentation at 6.5% residual sugar. In preparation for use in Port making, the Brandy was aged for one year in an Oak barrel. This addition of oak-aged Brandy adds complexity to the Port.
